　　Song XIAO, female, professor. Ph.D director of communication and information system in Xidian University. Member of Image and Graph Institute of Shannxi province. Member of IEEE signal processing society. She obtained her M.S degree in communication and information system and Ph.D degree in signal and information processing in Xidian University, China in 2001 and 2004, respectively. She was promoted to be an associate professor in Xidain University in 2005. From January to February 2005, she worked in Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea, to carry out a short term international project. From 2006 to 2007, she was a postdoctor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California, United States.

       In June and Dec 2011,she was promoted to be a  professor and Ph.D director of communication and information system in Xidain University, respectively.

　　Her research interests are in the fields of image/video compression and coding, joint source channel coding, multimedia transmission systems over wired/wireless network, robust image and video communication etc.

　　In recent years, she participated and accomplished a dozen of national 863 projects, national science foundation of China and other cooperative projects. Among them, she was charged with one national science foundation of China (NSFC) project, one institute cooperative project, one key laboratory foundation project and one KOSEF cooperative project. All the projects of NSFC she participated were evaluated as excellent. In 2003, she was awarded by the Shaanxi provincial government as the second-class of "Provincial Science and Technology Progress Prize” for participating the project of “Visual Geometry and its application in the image processing”. In 2008, she was awarded by the Shaanxi education department as the first-class of “Provincial Science and Technology Prize of Colleges and Universities” for participating the project of “Spectral image compression and its application in ChangE-1 lunar satellite”.Until now, she has over 60 publications in kernel journals home and abroad and international conferences. Among them, 7 were indexed by SCI, 53 were indexed by EI and 19 by ISTP.
