   Prof. Liqiang was born in xi'an, Shaanxi province in 1971. Prof. Liqiang obtained his BSc in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University, China in 1992, his MSc in Communications and Information Systems and PhD in Information and Communications Engineering from Xidian University, China in 2000 and 2003, respectively.

   From 1992 to 2005, Prof. Liqiang mainly worked at the 20thResearch Institute, Chinese Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), China. And his research direction was new wireless communication systems and key technologies. After 2005, Prof. Liqiang worked in the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Service Networks (ISN), Xidian University, engaged in the teaching and research work of wireless communication. In 2008, he was selected into the New Century Excellent Talents Support program of the Ministry of Education. He was promoted to Professor in 2009; In the following year, he was selected as the doctoral supervisor.

   Currently, Prof. Liqiang mainly engaged in research work in the fields of mobile information network architecture. He has hosted/participated in vertical research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, 863 Program, National Key R&D Program, national Science and Technology Major Projects, international cooperation and exchange projects such as EU FP7 Program, and horizontal research projects such as Huawei Foundation. He has published more than 200 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals and international academic conferences, authorized more than 30 national invention patents, and transferred 7 national invention patents.

Main research directions
  • Novel concepts, theories and technologies of mobile information networks: Facing the needs of mobile communication applications in 2020-2035, relying on the deep integration of information, communication, and data technology (ICDT, Information, Communication, and Data Technology), research on the fifth generation/ The sixth-generation mobile communication (5G/6G) network architecture, efficient networking theory and technology.
  • The basic theory, network architecture and key technologies of open source wireless cooperation: First, break the closed mobile communication network architecture centered on dedicated hardware; Relying on general hardware, build a mobile information network centered on open source software. Then, build a wireless network defined by open source software based on an open network architecture; Open wireless capability is realized through deep decoupling and flexible reconfiguration of network.
  • Sky-to-ground integrated network: the theory of networking and transmission for effective integration of ground-based mobile communication networks with air-based and space-based networks.
